Painting about a connection with the earth is a part of my practice. I have an ongoing series of landscapes that are created using collage and thick paint. The beginning point is often a photograph I’ve taken during travel. My imagination takes over and it becomes an amalgam of memory and exploration. For me, it becomes a space for both nostalgia and hope. The collage elements in this painting include junk mail envelope liners, polka dot paper, and a fragment of the Serenity Prayer.
